Leuven-based startup Spott has raised €18.3 million ($21 million) in a Series A funding round led by Balderton Capital, with participation from Base10 Partners, Y Combinator, and Fortino. The company, which provides an AI-native applicant tracking system (ATS) and customer relationship management (CRM) platform for recruitment agencies, plans to use the capital to scale its international presence and develop new agentic AI capabilities.
Spott was founded in 2024 by Lander Degreve, Manu Vanderveeren, and Samuel Smeys. The company's platform is designed to replace disconnected legacy tools by integrating candidate databases, sourcing, outreach, and scheduling into a single interface.
The startup reports that its revenue has grown more than tenfold since the beginning of 2026. It currently serves hundreds of agencies, including CGP Group and H.W. Anderson, across Europe, the US, and APAC.
The Series A round follows a €2.8 million Seed round raised in March 2025. The company currently maintains a staff of 44, with plans to expand to 60 by the end of the year.

Varför det spelar roll
The recruitment industry has historically relied on fragmented legacy software for candidate sourcing, outreach, and scheduling, which often forces recruiters to spend the majority of their time on administrative tasks rather than candidate engagement. By consolidating these functions into an AI-native workspace, Spott aims to automate the data-heavy aspects of recruitment—such as processing emails, CVs, and data—to allow human recruiters to focus on high-level decision-making and relationship building. This funding signals continued investor interest in vertical-specific AI platforms that target operational inefficiencies in traditional professional services.
Recruitment agencies often struggle with 'data silos' where information is trapped in separate systems for note-taking, scheduling, and candidate management. Spott claims that human judgment accounts for only 20% of a recruiter's workload, with the remainder consumed by manual administrative tasks.
By utilizing AI to turn unstructured data—such as emails and CVs—into actionable intelligence, the platform aims to reduce the time recruiters spend on non-billable tasks. This shift is intended to allow agencies to cut operational costs while increasing the volume of placements.
The investment from major firms like Balderton Capital and Y Combinator highlights the trend of 'AI-native' software replacing legacy enterprise tools in specialized sectors.

Vad du ska titta på härnäst
Spott intends to use the new funding to open offices in New York and Sydney, signaling a strategic push into the US and APAC markets. The company also plans to increase its headcount from 44 to approximately 60 employees by the end of 2026, with a specific focus on hiring engineers to build out 'agentic AI' features. Observers should monitor whether the platform can successfully maintain its reported growth trajectory while navigating the complexities of international recruitment compliance and varying regional market demands.
The company's stated goal of building 'agentic AI' capabilities suggests a move toward more autonomous workflows, where the software may eventually perform complex, multi-step tasks on behalf of the recruiter rather than just assisting with data entry.
Spott currently derives approximately 20% of its revenue from the APAC region and 15% from the US. The success of its planned expansion into New York and Sydney will be a key indicator of its ability to compete with established local recruitment software providers.
As the company scales, it will need to demonstrate that its AI-driven automation can maintain the high level of accuracy and trust required in professional hiring processes.
