Black Forest Labs introduced the FLUX.1 family in 2024. The official repository lists [pro], [dev], and [schnell] variants with different access and license terms. The FLUX.1 [dev] model card identifies that checkpoint as a 12B rectified-flow transformer and lists non-commercial terms, with separate commercial permission required where applicable. The FLUX.1 [schnell] model card identifies latent adversarial diffusion distillation and reports 1–4 inference steps for that variant. BFL’s August 2024 launch benchmark reports typography results for FLUX.1 [pro] and [dev], scoped to that company evaluation. The official repository reference code loads T5 v1.1 XXL and CLIP ViT-L/14; do not generalize those implementation details to later FLUX variants. The FLUX.1 Kontext paper studies in-context image generation and editing and reports improved preservation of objects and characters across multiple editing turns versus the models it evaluated; that is an evaluation result, not a universal identity guarantee.
