The cited paper evaluates action-sequence generation and receding-horizon execution on named robot-manipulation tasks.
Diffusion Policy represents visuomotor control as conditional denoising of action sequences. It conditions on visual and proprioceptive observations, learns to predict noise added to demonstrations, and iteratively denoises actions at inference. Because a generative policy can model several plausible action sequences, it can represent a multimodal action distribution where direct regression to a single average action may be unsuitable. Receding-horizon execution runs part of a predicted chunk, obtains a fresh observation, and replans. The paper reports results on 12 tasks across four robot-manipulation benchmarks. These experiments do not establish that diffusion is better than every older method or suitable for every robot.
Paper evaluation: the authors test 12 tasks across four robot-manipulation benchmarks.
Illustrative: use receding-horizon replanning when a robot can observe again during an action sequence.
Illustrative: compare action chunks and single-step predictions under the same hardware and task.

A generative policy can represent a multimodal action distribution, reducing the tendency to average distinct valid actions into one unsuitable action. This describes a modeling capability, not a universal performance comparison.
