The U.S. Bureau of Industry and Security issued October 2022 controls on certain advanced-computing chips and semiconductor-manufacturing items under the Export Administration Regulations. NVIDIA disclosed in an August 2022 SEC filing that the U.S. government had imposed an immediate license requirement for exports to China and Russia of its A100 and forthcoming H100 chips. Dutch export controls on certain lithography equipment are separate national measures. Rules changed over time, so historical examples should be dated and checked against current regulations.
