Jazyk AI GUIDE
NotebookLM, now called Gemini Notebook, helps educators organize selected course sources, ask source-grounded questions and create study materials such as summaries or Audio Overviews.
Its citations and source boundaries make review easier, but they do not guarantee that a summary is complete, accurate or suitable for students.
Google renamed NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook in July 2026. The standalone source-based tool is useful when a class already has a set of approved readings and notes. An educator can create a notebook, add relevant sources, and ask questions or request a study guide based on that collection. This makes it easier to keep a learning activity connected to course materials than an open-ended question in a general chatbot. A practical setup starts with a purpose: review a unit, compare two theories, prepare for an exam or build vocabulary practice. Add the current syllabus, learning objectives and readings that students are allowed to use. Give each file a clear name and check that scans, tables and diagrams imported correctly. Ask the tool to produce a draft with citations or source references, then open those passages to verify wording and context. Use the notebook to create complementary study aids, such as a concise outline, question set, concept map or Audio Overview. Ask questions that require students to connect sources, not just repeat a summary. If an answer relies on one document while another disagrees, ask the model to show both passages and let students resolve the difference. Source selection is a teaching decision. A notebook with only one viewpoint may present that viewpoint as complete. Outdated lesson files can create conflicting answers, and an incorrect scan can distort a quotation. Curate sources deliberately, remove obsolete versions and make the scope visible to learners. Keep the instructor’s primary materials authoritative for course requirements and assessment coverage. Follow school rules for student records, account eligibility and sharing. Do not upload identifiable student work, restricted readings or confidential material unless the institution approves that use. Check whether a school account has separate terms and controls from a personal account. NotebookLM can support source-based study and preparation; it does not replace the educator’s verification, accessibility review or judgment about what belongs in a course.

Source-based study tools may make it easier to convert course readings into multiple review formats, but educators should keep the underlying source set visible and current. Start with a small notebook built from materials students can use, then test citations, audio and accessibility before assigning it. Periodically remove old files and review sharing permissions. Keep generated summaries as aids to reading, not replacements for original material or the instructor’s learning objectives. Let students trace key claims back to the original reading.
A teacher adds a syllabus, two readings and a lecture handout to a notebook, then asks for a study guide whose sections link back to relevant source passages.
A class uses a teacher-curated set of primary documents to ask comparison questions, checking cited excerpts before discussing an answer.
An instructor generates an Audio Overview from approved revision materials, listens for omissions and shares it only through the school’s permitted channel.
A department refreshes a notebook each term by removing superseded policies and labeling the current syllabus and reading editions.

The notebook answers from its sources, so the educator should select relevant, current materials first.
A citation gives a path back to a passage, which still needs to be checked in context.
The system can use outdated material if it remains in the source collection.
Generated audio can omit context or contain inaccuracies, so review it before students rely on it.
Comparison questions encourage students to use evidence across the notebook’s sources.
