Its models can generate or predict video used in workflows for robotics and autonomous-vehicle research. Generated scenes are synthetic model outputs; they do not guarantee physically correct behavior or replace validation in simulation and real environments.
NVIDIA announced Cosmos at CES in January 2025 as a platform for physical-AI development. The initial platform included pretrained world foundation models, a video curation pipeline, and video tokenizers, with model weights made available under NVIDIA’s open model license. The Cosmos family includes Predict models for future-state video generation and Transfer models that condition generation on spatial inputs such as depth or segmentation maps; model names and capabilities have evolved since the first release. Researchers can use generated or transformed video to add scenarios to development datasets, including rare events, but must validate quality and downstream effects rather than assume synthetic data is physically accurate.

World-model research explores longer temporal prediction, richer controls, and integration with simulators and robotic data pipelines. Generated video may expand scenario coverage, but evaluation still needs independent physics checks and representative real data. As the Cosmos lineup changes, model-specific capabilities and license terms should be read from the current official model documentation.

Cosmos can generate or transform synthetic video for physical-AI workflows, but the outputs require validation and do not replace all real-world testing.
Cosmos releases include model weights and software components whose current terms should be verified for the specific artifact; open availability does not remove license conditions.
