Sprach-KI-GUIDE
AI can help a speaker collect memories, organize a eulogy and rehearse its length, but the stories, judgments and final words should come from people who knew the person.
Use it as a gentle editor, verify details with family and follow the wishes and traditions of the service.
A eulogy is a spoken tribute, and there is no single structure that fits every person or service. A speaker might share a short story, name qualities they admired, describe a relationship or acknowledge how the person affected others. Start by asking the family or organizer about the service’s length, tone, faith or cultural traditions, and any subjects that should remain private. AI can help when memories feel scattered. Ask it to pose open questions about routines, phrases, acts of care or a moment that shows the person’s character. Use your own recollection and confirm names, dates and details with someone who was there. If a memory belongs to another person, ask permission before including it. Never let a model invent a story, quote or accomplishment to make the speech more moving. Once you have notes, choose a few details that support one central idea. Draft in your own voice and read it aloud. A chatbot can flag repetition, suggest a clearer order or shorten sentences, but review every change for accuracy and tone. A polished but generic speech can feel less personal than a simple true story. Avoid implying that everyone experienced the person in the same way; a eulogy can be warm and still acknowledge complexity when appropriate. Plan for delivery. Use large-print notes, mark pauses and keep a copy with the person organizing the service. Estimate speaking time by rehearsing, since emotion and pauses affect pace. If writing or speaking feels difficult, ask a trusted family member, celebrant or funeral director for support. AI can reduce editing friction, but it should not replace the people who knew the deceased or the family’s wishes.
Speech tools may help speakers dictate memories or rehearse difficult passages, but they cannot supply the relationship behind the words. Families may also need to decide how recorded memories or AI-generated memorial material should be used. Keeping consent, accuracy and personal voice central will matter more than increasingly polished output. Some families may choose to preserve recordings, letters or stories for future generations. They should decide who may access those materials and whether an AI-generated voice or likeness is appropriate. Consent and the wishes of the people represented deserve attention beyond the quality of the final speech.
Ask AI to interview you about one memory, then write the story yourself from what you recall.
Group family-submitted memories into themes such as generosity, humor or daily rituals without ranking whose story matters most.
Ask for a shorter version of your own draft while preserving a sentence the family considers important.
Use AI to estimate speaking time, then rehearse aloud and adjust for pauses or emotion.

Questions can prompt recollection; the speaker supplies and verifies the memories.
Verification helps preserve accuracy, especially for details others may recognize.
Another person’s experience may require permission before public sharing.
The speaker should decide how the final words sound and what they mean.
Service traditions and family preferences shape appropriate tone and length.
