概要
This guide covers foundational collaborative filtering, content-based methods, matrix factorization and evaluation measures in cited research; product-specific platform behavior is outside scope.
Collaborative filtering uses patterns in user-item interactions; content-based methods use item features and user preferences. Matrix factorization maps users and items into latent vectors to estimate preference scores. The Netflix Prize stimulated research on rating prediction, but prediction error does not necessarily measure the quality of a ranked recommendation list. Meyer et al. propose an Average Measure of Impact for evaluating personalized recommendation utility/trust, while ranking metrics such as NDCG assess ordered top-K results. These research methods do not establish how Netflix, Spotify, Amazon or TikTok currently rank content.

What is AI in Recommendation Systems?
Recommender systems rank or select items for users. This guide covers foundational collaborative filtering, content-based methods, matrix factorization and evaluation measures in cited research; product-specific platform behavior is outside scope.
