Are donations tax-deductible?

Yes. AI Understanding is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 41-3273048). Contributions are tax-deductible in the United States to the extent permitted by law. Online gifts are processed by our own Stripe checkout, which emails your tax receipt immediately. Gifts made through PayPal Giving Fund are receipted by PayPal Giving Fund. Gifts sent to us directly by wire, ACH, DAF or stock are receipted by AI Understanding.

Where exactly does my money go?

Your donation supports mission delivery and the infrastructure behind it: new and updated guides, quizzes, tools, translations, accessibility, hosting, search, security, and responsible operations.

What payment methods can I use?

Online gifts run through our own Stripe checkout, which accepts credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay, plus Link or bank debit where Stripe offers them. You can optionally choose to cover the processing fee yourself so 100% of your selected amount reaches the mission. For bank wire, ACH, donor-advised fund grants or appreciated stock, email info@aiunderstanding.org and we will send instructions.

Can I give monthly or yearly instead of one time?

Yes — choose Monthly or Yearly in the checkout above and Stripe will bill your card automatically on that schedule until you cancel, which you can do any time by emailing info@aiunderstanding.org. You can also email info@aiunderstanding.org to set up a standing bank transfer instead, which has no processing fees at all.

Do you accept stock, DAFs, or wire transfers?

Yes, and these are the most efficient ways to give. We handle DAF grants, appreciated stock, bank wires and corporate matching directly rather than through a platform, so nothing is deducted in fees. Email info@aiunderstanding.org and we'll send our EIN documentation, brokerage DTC details and banking instructions, plus a written acknowledgment.

How do I donate $1,000,000 or make a transformational major gift?

We welcome transformational contributions and major gifts ($10,000 to $1,000,000+). For gifts of this scale, donors typically give via direct bank wire / ACH transfer, donor-advised funds (DAF), or appreciated stock to bypass credit card processing fees (saving tens of thousands in merchant cuts) and maximize legal tax deductions. Our founder, Alex Gonzalez, personally coordinates major gift agreements, program endowments, and custom impact reports. Reach out directly at info@aiunderstanding.org.

Can I wire funds directly from my bank?

Yes. Direct wire and ACH transfers allow 100% of your donation to reach the mission with zero processor deductions. Email info@aiunderstanding.org with the subject 'Wire Transfer Instructions' to receive our direct banking routing details and EIN documentation.

Can gifts be restricted to a specific educational program or endowed permanently?

Yes. Major donors and philanthropic foundations can designate contributions toward specific initiatives—such as our Open AI Curriculum, AI Safety & Alignment Track, Global Language Translations (40 languages), or permanent curriculum endowment. Formal gift agreements with named recognition are available for gifts of $25,000 and above.

Is my donor information private?

We do not sell or rent donor data. Stripe handles payment details under its own privacy and PCI-compliance terms and shares donation records with us only as needed for acknowledgment, reporting, and donor support. You may give anonymously where the selected platform allows it.
