OpenAI’s 2023 GPT-4 announcement described image inputs in a research preview, and its technical report says the model was fine-tuned with RLHF. In November 2023, OpenAI announced GPT-4 Turbo with a 128K context window. GPT-4o launched in 2024 as an omni model with text, audio and image capabilities. OpenAI later retired GPT-4o from ChatGPT on February 13, 2026; API deprecations are documented separately and may have different dates.
