РУКОВОДСТВО ПО КОМПАНИЯМ
Cruise developed a driverless robotaxi business under General Motors.

Its history illustrates how vehicle behavior, regulatory disclosure, and business strategy all affect deployment, including the 2023 California permit suspension and GM's later shift toward personal vehicles.
Cruise's robotaxi program and GM's assisted-driving products should not be treated as interchangeable. GM acquired Cruise in 2016, and Cruise developed driverless vehicles for a ride service. The Origin was a purpose-built shared vehicle designed without conventional driver controls, including a steering wheel and pedals. The company's deployment history also includes a serious October 2023 incident involving a pedestrian. Cruise's November 2023 recall report, filed with NHTSA, describes a collision-detection subsystem that could select an inappropriate pullover response after a collision involving a pedestrian low in the vehicle's path. That behavior concerned what the vehicle did after detecting a collision, not only whether its ordinary driving perception worked. On October 24, 2023, California DMV suspended Cruise's deployment and driverless testing permits. DMV cited safety-related grounds and misrepresented safety information; the same announcement said the action did not affect the permit for testing with a safety driver. These are distinct permissions, so one suspended permit should not be described as proof that every form of supervised testing was prohibited. In December 2024, GM announced that it would no longer fund Cruise's robotaxi development, citing scaling resources and competition. GM then announced full ownership of Cruise in February 2025 and collaboration on autonomous and assisted-driving technology for personal vehicles. That announcement describes a strategy and planned integration, not proof that every proposed future capability is already deployed. Reading the dated technical and regulatory records together gives a more precise account than attributing the entire business decision to one event.
Studying the Cruise Origin design, which omitted a steering wheel and pedals.
Examining the post-collision response described in the November 2023 software recall.
Distinguishing driverless deployment permission from testing with a safety driver.
Reading GM's December 2024 and February 2025 announcements as dated strategic decisions.
GM's published shift toward personal vehicles provides a dated basis for discussing Cruise's later direction. Statements about future integration or autonomy should remain attributed plans until actual products and capabilities are documented. The broader lessons are practical: assess uncommon vehicle responses, communicate incidents accurately, and distinguish regulatory permission from technical performance. Future accounts should revisit authoritative company and regulator records before making present-tense claims about availability, because a past announcement is not a continuing guarantee of a particular service.

Автомобиль Cruise потащил пешехода, оказавшегося на его пути, и обработка разоблачений привела к разрешению остановки.
The recall concerns the collision-detection subsystem's choice of a post-collision response.
GM объявила, что прекратит финансирование автономного проекта роботакси и сосредоточит эту работу на автономном личном транспортном средстве.
