Its work includes open AI research, datasets, models, scientific tools, and other research areas.
AI2 projects include Semantic Scholar, a scholarly search and discovery service, and OLMo, a language-model family presented as a fully open model flow. AI2 describes this flow as extending beyond final weights to data and training artifacts. Openness is artifact- and license-specific; check terms for each release. Dolma’s first 2023 release was described as a 3-trillion-token corpus; later versions differ, and OLMo 3 uses the larger Dolma 3 corpus. Older projects such as AllenNLP should be checked for current maintenance before adoption. Ai2’s current About page gives its mission as “Building breakthrough AI to solve the world’s biggest problems.” The official OLMo 3 article describes the post-training paths, including supervised fine-tuning (SFT), direct preference optimization (DPO), and reinforcement learning with verifiable rewards (RLVR). AllenNLP was an open-source NLP research library built on PyTorch; its official repository is archived and read-only. Semantic Scholar’s Academic Graph API exposes paper and author records and supports fields such as titles, abstracts, and citation data.
Researchers search scholarly literature with Semantic Scholar.
Researchers inspect OLMo release artifacts, subject to each artifact’s terms.
Model developers use a specific Dolma release, whose contents and counts differ by version.
AI2’s science portfolio includes scientific-text and document-processing projects.
AI2 continues to publish research, datasets, and model families. Release contents, benchmarks, sizes, and licenses change; cite a specific release and check its current documentation.

Ai2’s current About page states its mission as building breakthrough AI to solve the world’s biggest problems. Older mission phrasing should not be substituted for the current page.
The official AllenNLP repository describes a PyTorch NLP research library and states it was archived on December 16, 2022. Check current alternatives before starting new work.
