Speaker verification is a one-to-one decision: determine whether a speech sample matches a claimed speaker identity.

Systems compare an enrollment representation with a test utterance and use a decision threshold; spoofing countermeasures address replayed or generated audio.
A speaker-verification system receives a claimed identity and decides whether a test utterance is consistent with an enrolled speaker. Modern neural systems can map variable-length speech to fixed-length speaker embeddings, as in ECAPA-TDNN. Text-dependent systems constrain enrollment and verification to known or fixed phrase content; text-independent systems do not impose the same phrase constraint. The decision threshold trades false acceptance against false rejection. Equal Error Rate (EER) is the point where these error rates are equal in the evaluated test setting; it is not a universal operating threshold. ASVspoof evaluates countermeasures intended to protect speaker-verification systems from replay, synthesized and converted speech attacks.
Comparing a new test utterance with an enrolled speaker representation in a verification experiment.
Measuring false accepts and false rejects at different decision thresholds.
Comparing text-dependent pass-phrase trials with text-independent speech trials.
Testing a speaker-verification system against spoofed and deepfake audio using ASVspoof data.
Evaluate verification across speakers, channels, phrase conditions and spoof attacks representative of the intended use. Report operating thresholds and false-accept/false-reject tradeoffs rather than a single EER alone; model and dataset results do not establish security for every deployment.
