概要
Public product documentation describes user-facing behavior and controls, but usually does not reveal the complete ranking or selection algorithm. Because a surfaced memory can be joyful or painful, useful product design combines curation with clear user control and sensitivity to personal context.
ディープダイブ
A memory feature turns a photo library into a selected collection, often arranged as a slideshow or short movie. Apple’s Photos guide describes personalized collections around significant people, pets, places, activities, or events; it also documents ways to add, remove, reorder, and filter media in memory movies, and to feature people less often or disable featured content. Google Photos documents controls for hiding dates and people or pets, and for removing a photo or memory from featured memories. These documents establish user-visible functions, not the complete internal criteria, weights, or AI model used to select every image. The convenience is clear: users can rediscover albums without manually sorting years of pictures. But an automated collection can also surface a sensitive relationship, bereavement, illness, or other difficult episode unexpectedly. A system may be technically accurate about faces, dates, or places and still make an emotionally poor choice. Product teams should make editing and suppression controls discoverable, let people remove an item or topic, and test whether preferences take effect across related surfaces. A hide control may take time to update or may not work perfectly; users should understand its actual scope. When describing these features, distinguish public product documentation from speculation about scoring. Do not assert that an app ranks photos by technical quality, facial recognition, or event importance unless current primary documentation supports the claim. Explain what users can see and change, and note availability can differ by device, operating system, region, and app version. The goal is not to explain an undisclosed algorithm as fact, but to discuss the product experience, privacy expectations, and agency users have over surfaced memories.

The Future of AI Memories and Photo Slideshows
Photo-memory tools will likely become more conversational and more capable of building custom stories, while retaining the need for controls over what is surfaced. Apple and Google already document editing and suppression options, though labels and availability can change with software updates. Product teams should revisit those controls as features evolve and avoid promising that automated curation will always avoid sensitive or inaccurate memories. Teams should also check whether preference changes apply to collections, movies, widgets, and notifications, and explain which surfaces each control affects.
現実世界の実装
Apple Photos presents personalized collections featuring a person, pet, place, activity, or event and lets users inspect the items included.
A user removes a photo from an Apple memory movie, adjusts its length or soundtrack, or edits its title using documented controls.
A Google Photos user hides a person or date from featured memories, or removes a photo or a memory from the carousel.
A product team avoids claiming to know why a specific image was selected unless the app documents that reason, and tests controls for accidental resurfacing.

What does Apple’s Photos documentation say a Memories collection can feature?
Apple describes personalized collections around those kinds of subjects or events.
Which action does Apple document for a memory movie?
Apple supports user editing of memory movie content and presentation.
Which Google Photos control helps prevent a date from appearing in featured memories?
Google Photos documents hiding selected dates from featured memories.
What should a writer say about the internal criteria that select each memory?
Public help pages document visible features, not necessarily full internal mechanics.
Why can automatic photo memories create a product risk even when the images are correctly grouped?
Emotional context and user preference are not guaranteed by accurate grouping.
