Submer, a Spanish AI and HPC infrastructure provider, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Advanced Communications & Electronics Systems (ACES) to accelerate the deployment of high-density, AI-ready data centers in Saudi Arabia. The agreement designates ACES as the local facilitator for infrastructure services and investment, while Submer provides engineering and technology support across the project lifecycle. The scope includes facility planning, design, construction, retrofitting, and potential co-investment in data center capacity.

Submer and ACES signed a memorandum of understanding this week to collaborate on high-density, AI-ready data center projects in Saudi Arabia. The agreement leverages Submer's engineering expertise and ACES's local market presence and investment strength.

Under the MoU, ACES will handle local delivery, infrastructure services, and investment facilitation. Submer will contribute engineering and technology across the full project lifecycle, including advisory, facility planning, design, build, and retrofitting of existing sites.

The agreement also includes the potential for the two companies to co-invest in Saudi data center capacity. Khalid Aljamed, Submer's General Manager for the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa, stated that the partnership aims to reduce the overhead of coordinating multiple parties for engineering, construction, and financing.

Akram Aburas, CEO of ACES Group, noted that the combination of Submer's technology and ACES's execution capabilities is designed to add AI-ready capacity and support the growth of Saudi Arabia's digital infrastructure ecosystem.

Почему это важно

This partnership addresses the infrastructure gap in Saudi Arabia's rapidly expanding AI sector, where demand for high-density is outpacing traditional construction models. By integrating engineering and local execution, the firms aim to reduce project overhead and accelerate the availability of AI-ready capacity. This move supports the Kingdom's broader digital infrastructure goals and complements existing commitments from major hyperscalers and sovereign AI initiatives, potentially influencing the pace and cost of AI deployment in the region.

Saudi Arabia's data center market is projected to grow from $2.38 billion in 2026 to $4.35 billion by 2031, according to Mordor Intelligence. This growth is driven by long-term commitments from AWS, Microsoft, and Google, as well as the $100 billion PIF-backed sovereign AI initiative HUMAIN.

The partnership addresses a critical bottleneck: the mismatch between rapid AI demand and the slower pace of traditional infrastructure development. By streamlining the project lifecycle, the firms aim to deliver facilities engineered specifically for dense AI workloads more quickly.

This move is significant for the regional AI landscape as it provides a specialized pathway for deploying high-density infrastructure, which is essential for training and running large-scale AI models. It also signals a strategic alignment between international infrastructure providers and local Saudi entities to capture market share in the sovereign AI sector.
