How Autonomous System works
Example
A warehouse robot senses shelves and other robots, decides a path, and moves goods without a person steering it. If it detects something unexpected, such as a blocked aisle, it stops and signals a human operator.
Why it matters
When systems act without direct human control, design choices about limits, fallbacks, and accountability become safety questions. Autonomy comes in degrees rather than as an on-off switch.
